2011 FIM World Sidecar Track Racing Championship to be at Gillman Speedway: - manager Dave Parker says "It is a great honour to be able to get this event, to pay back the many loyal workers and supporters of Gillman Speedway and previously North Arm Speedway". It will be at the start of their 2011 speedway season at the end of 2011 year. Keep an eye on their web site, www.gillmanspeedway.com or their FB page for further details.  Anyone with a strong business to come on board for sponsorship and marketing opportunities is invited to contact Dave Parker via the details on the Gillman Speedway website if you can assist.

Get out the Classics again! - GILLMAN CLASSIC SPEEDWAY CHAMPIONSHIPS (Jack SCOTT Tribute)  - Saturday 30 October 2010.  The entry form and details are attached - click here.

Mildura Wintersun Classic meeting.  The SSRAV would like to congratulate the members of the SSRAV that travelled up to Mildura on the Queens Birthday weekend and brought home 4 out of 6 of the sidecar classes: - Peter Tolley / James Tolley, Ian Treloar / Ezra, Rick Curran / Chris Walker, John Putkunz / Matt Putkunz.  There was a good turn up of competitors for the day with over 60 entries, which entertained a fair crowd with some great racing.

Vale Dave Cotterell.  The Committee and members of the SSRAV would like to extend their sincere condolences to Loraine and family with the passing of Dave after his hard fought battle.  He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.

Leigh Adams testimonial: Australian international speedway rider Leigh Adams has announced that 5th January 2011 will be the date of his Testimonial meeting, to be held at his home track of Olympic Park, Mildura. Adams is currently competing in his final year of European competition and hopes to go out with a bang on January 5. The meeting will feature a very strong field of senior riders, some Junior competition, as well as Australia’s top sidecar riders and a host of other cameo appearances by champions past and present. “The Sidecar field is nearly sorted” said Adams, “and all but one of the competitors rode in the Australian Championship this year”. The odd men out are actually the brilliant duo of Glenn and Nathan O’Brien, who jumped at the chance to take part.

All dates may be subject to change due to weather, etc. Please check. Sign on time from 12 o’clock. Racing from 1pm. Canteen operating on track. Hurri Hurri to Kurri Kurri! - The Kurri Kurri club is up and running.  Their first Club Day was Sunday 18 April, with classes for Senior solos, Senior sidecars, Evos, 350's, 125's and Junior sidecars.  Sign on from 9am, scrutineering 9.30, racing 10am.  Club fees for 2010 are: Family $50; Senior $30; Junior $20; Assoc. $15.  Costs to ride were: Seniors $40; Juniors $25; Junior sidecars $30.  Admission $10. Pensioners and children under 16 free.  Riders and 1 mechanic do not pay at gate.  Contact Julie Sweetman (Ph. 49380036; 0419 986190, jsw42229@bigpond.net.au) if you would like to nominate for future meetings. The track is in the grounds of the Hydro Aluminium smelter at Kurri, next to the track used by the Kurri Kurri Junior Motorcycle Club.

Got any JAP spares? - Dave Vintagetin from Adelaide - vintagetin@bigpond.com – is looking for a timing chest and rockers for a 1930 350 JAP engine. He is trying to piece together a Rudge JAP that’s missing parts.  Any ideas?

Arunga Park Speedway 40 Years Reunion: - Julie Thomsen is looking for expressions of interest in holding a 40 year reunion for Arunga Park Speedway, Alice Springs.   As the "official opening" was the 23rd April 1973 - they plan to hold it 19-21st April 2013.  If you are interested, please email Julie on lanceandjulie74@hotmail.com, or call 0418 890 380.  If anyone has old footage, photos, memorabilia, the postal address is PO Box 3295 Alice Springs  NT  0871. All will be returned to original owner.

 The SSRAV Committee has decided that the following procedure be put in place and is Effective as of 8/01/2010:

• ALL nominations for the Broadford SSRAV Club Days must be received by 5pm the Tuesday prior to the meeting. 

• ALL nominations must be given to a current committee member (ref the contact list below).

• NO LATE nominations will be accepted, (NO EXCEPTIONS).

If you don’t nominate and turn up on the day you may get a ride if:-

a)      there is a hole in the programme (ie:- 3 sidecars nominated or 4 nominated & only 3 turned up);

b)      someone breaks down and is unable to compete.

DON’T TURN up and expect a ride if you haven’t nominated!  The Programme will be done on the Tuesday night by members of the committee and if insufficient entries are received the meeting may be cancelled at that stage.
